Red Coat

I bought this coat in red from J. Crew a few seasons back and, oh boy, has it been a winner. I sort of purchased it on a whim, because really, how often do you need a heavy coat in Los Angeles?

It is the perfect shade of red, has a ruffled stand up collar and the cutest cream and fuchsia silk lining. And what do you know? It turned out to be a stand out in my wardrobe. Because it's never too cold for too long I don't get bored with it, in fact wearing my coat is like a treat - even if it's with a tank top, jeans and flip flops!

Do you have an item in your wardrobe that at first seemed like a frivolous splurge and turned out to be a staple?

I adore this red coat!

I think anytime you spend 'good' money on something, you end up wearing it every season.

Shoes are kind of my thing. When I spend 'good' money on boots or shoes, I tend to wear them a lot.

J.Crew is always one of my favorite places to spend on classics.

My Marc Jacobs satchel - the color is a deep wine, and I almost returned it because I thought it might be a nutty color. So glad I kept it because I love it and can't go anywhere without it!!

Do you remember what the jacket is called? Carlin? Thanks!

@tenthings You are so right! I have been trying to 'bite the bullet' and get a good pair of boots for a few years!

@Grace Ooooh! Sounds pretty - I bet it adds just the right amount of color to so many outfits.

@Anonymous I believe it is the double-cloth Sybil coat. I think I purchased it two or three years ago.
